Late Night Nothings

Believe it or not, I am really enjoying this whole packing process. It's a little emotional for me, but liberating and cleansing as well. It's been forcing me to filter through papers (mainly from when the twins were in the NICU), think twice about what clothes and toys we should have tossed out months ago, and just rid ourselves of useless clutter that has gathered over the last four years.

Madelynn's room was the first to be finished. All that is left is to take down her crib. That's it. It's bare white walls make me an emotional wreck every time I walk in. After all, that is the very same room that I would sit in while pregnant with the twins and wonder what motherhood would be like. It's the room where I spent most of my nights dozing off in the rocking chair...one baby in each arm and a horrible kink in my neck. That room has been with me through all three of my babies...it's hard!

We are buying some boxes this week to get a jump start on the rest of the house. I think my biggest hurdle will be the floors. As kids came and the stress level rose, my ability to keep up on every chore took a back seat...floors being almost completely ignored. The rest of the house is actually in pretty good condition, SHOCKER! haha. It's no surprise if you know me at all. I was that teenager that may have had clothes all over my bed and CDs scattered on my floor, but you better believe that my closet, dresser and under my bed were perfectly organized. Alright, so I'm weird!! :)

Johnathon got me a fabulous book the other day, Navy Spouse's Guide by Laura Hall Stavridis, and I love it! I've been a Navy wife/girlfriend for just under 6 years now and there are still little tidbits that I am learning from this book. Just after reading the first page I learned that the author's husband was assigned to a precom ship which sailed from Biloxi, Mississippi around the tip of South America to it's home port of San Diego. I, too, went through that same situation with my husband not even a year and a half ago.

I went to the dentist today. Is it strange that I enjoy going?? I mean, is there any better feeling then right after your teeth have been cleaned? Seriously...I love it!

Anywho, I'm tired and there is a handsome man in my bed waiting for me. Goodnight!

While I hate moving, I love to pack up and clean it all out. I have moved 11 times within the last 6 years and every time I do, I am amazed at how much I get rid of.

Good luck with the move! A fun adventure awaits you!

And yes, I love the dentist too. Nothing beats freshly cleaned teeth!
