Simply Blessed: Foster-to-Adopt

2013

January 7th, 2013 - Johnathon and I attended our foster parent orientation.
January 8th, 2013 - We received our application via email, filled it out and submitted it along with our application fee.

January 10th, 2013 - Mini-Interview and MMPI-2
January 18th, 2013 - In-depth Interview with our social worker, Kathleen. {Received a folder full of paperwork to be completed and returned at our own timing.}
February 16th, 2013 - CPR & First Aid certification classes
March 5th, 2012 - Livescan Fingerprinting
March 7th, 9th-10th & 12th - 24 hours of Foster Parent Training
March 26th - Home Inspection (So easy and simple.)
April 4th - Our out-of-state background clearance came back.
April 26th - Received 'The Call' a few days before we were to be put on the open list.
April 27th - Pick-up Baby D from the hospital. Life is perfect!
July 25th - Our first quarterly. There is a team meeting (myself, county social worker, Angels CCM and CASA), home inspection and all paperwork is due (medication log, visitation notes, clothing inventory, clothing purchase log, etc.).
October 25th - Our second quarterly. A second team meeting with the same people to discuss the direction of case and any concerns. A second home inspection takes place and all paperwork is due.

2014

January 23rd - Our third quarterly. A third team meeting with the same people to discuss the direction of case and any concerns. A third home inspection takes place and all paperwork is due.
March 28th - First official meeting with D's county adoptions worker to talk about permanent placement options. We are informed that we have been chosen as D's forever family and decide to call him Jackson. {One of the best days of my life!}
April 25th - Jackson turns ONE! Our fourth quarterly and one year re-certification.
June 17th - Parental rights are officially terminated.
June 24th - Received and returned release forms from the county to contract out our case to a private agency for our adoption home study.
July 10th - Received our adoptions home study application and paperwork in the mail from Walden Family Services.
July 14th - Mailed our home study application and 90% of our paper work to Walden Family Services. LiveScans are complete!
July 25th - Our fifth quarterly.
August 21st - First of three in-depth interviews with Walden Family Services for our adoption home study.
September 5th - Second of three in-depth interviews with Walden Family Services for our adoption home study.
September 11th - Final in depth interview with Walden Family Services for our adoption home study.
October 25th - Our sixth quarterly.

2015

January 25th - Our seventh and final quarterly.
February 9th - Our last home visit with Angels Foster Family Network.
February 12 - Signing/Telling where we were told Jackson's complete history and signed all adoption paperwork.
April 24th - Got our COURT DATE!!
April 25th - Jackson turns TWO!
May 6th - ADOPTION DAY! :)
