Just Like Mama

Johnathon and I have tried to make it a point to buy a few new hard back books for the girls' 'library' each month. In the Spring, as I was browsing the aisles at Borders, I cam across this fabulous book, Just Like Mama. I flipped through it and decided to make a mental note of it and tell Johnathon about it.

I was kicking myself as I went to bed that night because I just couldn't believe that I didn't buy that book right then and there. The next morning I dragged Johnathon off to the book store to get it...only I couldn't remember where I saw it and (duh, typical me) couldn't remember the exact title.

About an hour later, I FINALLY found my long lost treasure and swooped it up!

Just Like Mama
By Leslea Newman; Illustrated by Julia Gorton

"With a Whirl and I twirl across the fuzzy purple rug, she swoops down on my bed and scoops me up into a hug. Nobody wakes me up just like Mama.

"Half a dozen dangling braids all hanging in a row, then each one tied up tightly with a brightly colored bow. Nobody combs my hair just like Mama."

This book reminds me so much of my relationship with Alyssa & Allison (and I am sure eventually Madelynn), but it also helps to remind me to keep everything fun. My girls are at that age where they will remember a lot of what is happening right now in their lives and I want those memories to be fun and exciting ones. I want them to look back and remember all of the fun times we had together and corky things that we did.

If you are the mother to a little girl then you just HAVE to get your hands on this book.
