Shelves: Halloween Decor

Remember when I posted about these babies...?

Well, look who just got a face lift in honor of the Halloween season!

Some of the decorations are old and a few I picked up here and there. Honestly, most of the new items are from HomeGoods.

I kept the old picture frame and cut out the word 'BOO' using my Cricut and itty bitty little clothes pins I found at Micheals. The black bottle was a $5.99 HomeGoods score and red bottle I got at Ross for around $2.99. You can't beat that, huh?! The girls were upset that I wasted the candy corn for the sake of decorating, but offered to help make a few spiders for the wall.
(spider tutorial coming soon.)

The flowers, tin bucket, and owl all came from HomeGoods and the skull was a cheap Target find. The wooden candy corn was something I snagged at a rummage sale a few years ago.

I think Alyssa and Allison were just as excited about the Halloween decor as I was. I almost didn't do anything for Halloween since I usually just stick with a generic Fall theme and don't have to change anything for almost three months. As the girls are getting older, I can't quite get away with that as much. It does make me laugh, though, to look back at old blog posts and how lame my decorating was a few years ago. I used to think I could get away with a random candy bowl on my side table.

We have been wanting to build our version of a DIY farm house table for awhile now and just haven't made it a priority yet. We even debated whether or not to just buy one. I think for now we will just make do with what we have and save that project for after the first of the year. We did, however, buy a bench for one side of the table. (Thanks to my friend, Allie, for the idea.) Now we can all happily fit around the table for dinner. That's always nice.

I'm very excited to announce that I will be doing a 31 Days of Halloween project. For 31 days straight, the girls and I will do a different Halloween craft, home decor or recipe and blog about it. Tomorrow we will be showing you how we made the scary spiders that you see on my dining room wall.

Happy October!!
