The child harness... (or "leash" as some call it,) is a hotly debated topic among moms. As a parent of multiples, I feel as though my safety concerns just might make them a little more acceptable. Here are my thoughts!
■Do you use them? Why or why not?
I do own 2 of them, one for each of my 2 year olds. I only use them when I am in an unfamiliar place and worry about being unable to physically keep up with my children. I never used them before the birth of my 6 month old, now they put me at ease when I am traveling on my own; especially through an airport.
■How do your kids react to them?
It took a little bit for the girls to get used to them, but they are just fine while wearing them. Sometimes they are picky about who holds the other end of the 'leash'.
■Do you think they are an example of laziness, or simply concern over your child's safety?
Depends on who is using it. Is it a couple with only one child who is walking through Wal-Mart?? LAZY and rediculous! A parent (especially one of multiples) with two or more children walking through busy places alone?? For SAFETY and concern.
■If you are against them, do you think it's more acceptable for a parent of multiples to use them?
Umm...multiples have nothing to do with it. As long as there are several children, who cares if they were born on the same day...it's HARD!
■Do you think negatively of other parents that use them?
Like I said, it depends on the situation.
I would like to add that we have owned our 'leashes' for about 2 years and have only used them 2-3 times. Once in an airport while I was flying with the twins by myself and once we took them to the Zoo (i think). I am throwing that 3rd time in there just incase I am forgetting a time. I hate that people call them 'leashes', but I think it's actually a pretty spot-on name for what they are. The way I see it, I will use anything available to help me better keep an eye on my kids and prevent them from running off when my hands are full.
I plan on using them again when I fly to Illinois this summer. I will be traveling with my two (barely) 3 year olds and my almost 9 month old all on my own. I think this is a perfect example of when they are needed. I can't wait to be a fellow flyers dream nightmare! I am sure everyone will be jumping at the idea of sitting next to the crazy woman and her three children, 3 and under! haha.

i've never used them, but there are times when i'm out and about outnumbered 3-1 and i think to myself "man, those leashes would come in handy!" and it's totally for safety. now that all 3 of mine are running all over the place, i am in over my head unless we're in our own house or back yard. :)
