NICU Reunion 2013

A few weeks ago Naval Medical Center San Diego hosted their annual NICU Reunion.

For us, this was our 6 year anniversary as the twins will be turning 6 years old next week.

We had such a good time and it was a great experience for everyone.

Here are the girls planting a bamboo plant.

Then they stopped to play with stickers and make their own fake passports.

I loved that everyone got a name tag, but only NICU graduates got a sticker on theirs and they also added what year they graduated. It was nice to look around and see/compare other children who are around their age.

Of course we got a picture with Thing 1 and Thing 2.

Face paintings!

Upon entering the reunion, they handed every family one red ticket for the raffle. Wouldn't you know it, we won!!

As we were in line to get our lunch, they called our number. We won two tickets to a Hornblower Cruise here in San Diego...DATE NIGHT! :)

There was lunch, music and even live dancing.

So. Much. Fun.

Due to the doctors being in the Navy, ours are no longer attached to this command and were unable to attend. We did however head up the NICU to ask about our favorite nurse, Ms. Kathy.

She wasn't there that day, but we made our way back later that weekend to thank her for everything that she did for us. I was shocked with she remembered us as the 'A' twins of 2007.

Overall, it was a great experience and we will be going back next year for sure.

Thank you, NMCSD NICU, for everything that you have done and continue to do for our family!

$ What A Deal $

I thought I would just take a moment and explain how easy it was to make the twins' Thing 1 & Thing 2 Halloween costumes.

Even better...they were CHEAP too!!
The dresses were actually made out of two red standard size pillowcases. I simply followed the directions from an easy tutorial {pillowcase dress} from Youtube...and Viola!

I had no luck finding a cheap, child sized wig for them to wear that I thought was worth it for a few hours of trick-or-treating so I opted to spray their hair blue and make some of my own bows!!
Let's break it down...

2 red pillowcases (Wal-Mart)...$12
2 pairs of red tights (garage sale)...$ .50
2 Pairs of red shoes (on sale @ Wal-Mart)...$6
2 red turtle neck shirts (Wal-Mart)...$7
3 rolls of blue ribbon (50% off @ Jo-Ann Fabrics)...$3
1 Halloween face painting kit...$2
1 can blue hair tint...$4
3 pieces of felt...$1
Total...$35.5

Comes to a grand total of $17.75 per child.

You could find anything more adorable for that price...ANYWHERE!!
They were a huge hit and I have no regrets!!

I was a little worried about doing the 'cliche' twin costume, but obviously there is a reason. Everyone loved them!!

No name calling. Yes, I know I am crazy.
BUT...I already have next years costumes picked out and they will be homemade as well.

There is no stopping me now! :)

God bless.

The Moment You Have All Been Waiting For...

Halloween was a very busy day for us. Johnathon came home from duty, breakfast, church, naps, last minute details on costumes, babysitting the neighbor girl, getting dressed up...ugh!

By the time we were out the door to go Trick-or-Treating, I was ready to go back inside and head to bed. Please forgive me for the lack of pictures...

It's far too exhausting to attempt to get three little girls to all smile at the same time!

Daddy and his girls!
They did great and really enjoyed themselves.
Madelynn really stole the show...our little Cat in the Hat.
The girls got way more candy than can/should be consumed by such little girls...
luckily their Daddy and I are here to help out! :)
Are they not the cutest Thing 1 & Thing 2 you have ever seen?
That's what I thought!
